How was your week? Are you celebrating Hanukkah? Writing Christmas cards? I feel like the swirl of holiday busyness and excitement has hit our house. We pulled down our Christmas decorations and opened our holiday book box. We also celebrated Margaret turning six. This weekend, getting a Christmas tree is on our list. Here are a few links that caught my eye…
Were you a “Sweet Valley High” junkie? As a tween in the 80s, I loved Elizabeth and Jessica. I also couldn’t get enough of “The Baby-Sitters Club” and Christopher Pike mysteries. When I heard about this book, I immediately put it on hold at the library. And this NPR interview with the author made me smile.
Upcoming children’s book releases! My 7-year-old, Gus, has requested this new book from the “Dog Man” series from Santa. He is also a huge “Big Nate” fan, so I pre-ordered Lincoln Peirce’s new book Max and the Midknights.
My favorite read of the week were these tips for raising teenage boys. My boys are 10 and 7, so we are not quite there yet – but I can see it coming on the horizon. There’s just not much out there on raising teens (compared to the overwhelming amount of baby blogs). When I see wise, loving posts like this one it makes me pause, think and re-read.
Have you watched Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat on Netflix? Hart and I just attempted the buttermilk-marinated chicken from the final episode (#4 – Heat). It was delicious and surprisingly easy.
Tips for throwing a holiday party with kids.
This Best Podcast List of 2018 caught my eye because the top 10 had not one – but two! – entries featuring my hometown Nashville.
Hope you have a great weekend!
